More Loony Left Insights

Once again...while attempting to give the liberal talk station a chance, I was stunned by the stupidity. This morning's discussion was about the terror alert system. According to this talk show, people think it is 'scary'.

Hmmm...ok, well, then I have to ask myself, did they pose the question correctly? Are people honestly saying that being warned of possible terrorist activities scares them...or is it the possibility of an actual attack that scares them? But wait...then the host actually said that Michael Moore shows in his movie (as if that has any basis in fact) that the terror alert system was put in place by the Bush Administration to control and frighten Americans.

I just dismissed this 'poll' and the non-sensical comments of the host, and switched to the 'patriot' channel. When I got back home I decided to google for the liberal view of President Bush.

What I have heard above the din of the various anti-Bush and democratic/non-Republican rhetoric is that "Bush Lied." That seems to be a very popular slogan of the Democrats/Liberals, and the main reason people would actually vote for Kerry in November. So, it was this claim that I decided to research.

I found quite a lot of reading material. Most of it from conspiracy theorists. I found some real gems...the WTC was detonated from inside - it didn't collapse from the collision of the airplanes; the Jewish community had warning prior to the attack, so 3,000 of them that worked in the WTC didn't report to work on 9/11; the list goes on and on and on.

Then I got interested in the debate over WMD, and I found an article or two I wanted to share.

From Fox News on 5/17/2004...Sarin, Mustard Gas Discovered Separately in Iraq

From Insightmag.com on April 26, 2004: Saddam's WMD Have Been Found I got a particluar kick out of how this article was written. I guess the Liberals will say that what was found was really just pesticide for all those pesky Middle Eastern insects.

Key assertions by the intelligence community that were widely judged in the media and by critics of President George W. Bush as having been false are turning out to have been true after all. But this stunning news has received little attention from the major media, and the president's critics continue to insist that "no weapons" have been found.

Now, you may not believe the content of those 2 articles...after all, I found many MORE articles that criticize the US intelligence, the Bush Administration, Tony Blair, and on and on. Most of these state that there were/are no WMD in Iraq.

It is my opinion that Bush did not lie to America or to the rest of the world when he stated that there were WMD in Iraq. After all, the intelligence from all different countries/agencies points to that conclusion. I think that the people in charge were probably more likely to OVERSTATE the possibility of an attack from Saddam Hussein after disregarding the evidence that Ossama bin Laden was planning terror attacks with planes prior to 9/11.

The Director of the CIA, John McLaughlin, stated in a press conference on 7/9/04, "I think there were very few people around the world or in the Intelligence Community that questioned the basic assumption that weapons existed. And one of the mistakes we can make in reading just the Senate report — you can read the report and read all the criticisms of the work, and you can come away with the impression that nothing was going on in this country that related to WMD at all. When in fact, if you look at the work that's been carried out under David Kay first and now Charlie Duelfer and the Iraq Survey Group, it's quite clear that Iraq was in material breach of Resolution 1441 on any number of instances, ranging from the secret work that was underway on things like anthrax simulants all the way up to what we had discovered about their missile work which was, in fact, dramatically beyond what we suggested. With their plans not to declare to the UN their missiles, solid propellant, liquid propellant, well in excess of 1,000 kilometers. A chemical industry that could quickly be converted, using precursors for chemical weapons. Assembly lines for anthrax simulants that could be converted to anthrax in less than a week.

So people who assumed, back to your original point, people who assumed that there was work underway on weapons of mass destruction were not entirely wrong if your baseline here is to say that he had not fully abandoned his programs."

Saddam Hussein was a cruel dictator who killed and tortured the people he ruled and he obviously had SOMETHING to hide from UN inspectors through his noncompliance to the terms of UN Resolution. The fact that he did not leave when asked, did not comply with the world's request to disarm, left us - as the most powerful nation in the world - no choice but to invade and forcibly remove him from power.

Although there are still bombings and uprisings in Iraq, I believe that the majority of the people there...the ones who were oppressed and tortured...are glad to finally get a chance to live in freedom. Because, like George Bush, I believe that that is the right of every human being.

I guess it is just politics - there has to be conflict between sides. It just seems to me that the Left will find any excuse to point blame and absolutely no compassion or understanding...or even common sense. The scariest part for me is knowing that there are couch potatoes out there that will take what the mainstream media says as truth without question. I can't wait to see what will happen at the RNC this year - and after.
